We utilize green hydrogen produced by QUANTUM ENERGY as fuel in urban bus transportation, which buses are produced by H2Bus Ltd.

These buses operate with internal-combustion engines, the price of which is much favourable than of fuel cells. Only H2Bus Ltd. is manufacturing these kind of hybrid buses in Europ (prototypes can be seen on the pictures).

The engine of these buses operate just like those driven by benzin or diesel, except for they do not burn benzin or diesel oil in the engine compartment, but hydrogen.

Hydrogen is stored in high-pressure vessels on the top of the buses. With burning hydrogen as fuel, the engine drives a generator on a constant rotational speed (1500 RPM), and with the electricity produced it powers the electromotors placed at the wheels. Since internal-combustion engines can be operated on constant and low rotational speed, this solution provides a fuel-saving operation.

Vessels of 350 bar pressure are able to store fuel sufficient for 500 km, although the development of 700 bar vessels is almost finished, which would enable buses to carry a double amount of hydrogen, doubling the distance it is sufficient for.
